Definition of Neuro-Linguistic Programming

Neuro - Nervous system through which experience is recieved and processed through the five senses (sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch ).
Linguistic - Language and nonverbal communication schemes through which neural representations are coded, ordered and given meaning.
Programming - The ability to organise our communication and neurological systems to achieve specific desired goals and results.

You can say that NLP is programming language for human brain. It's like Visual Basic for computers.

Basic techniques of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

The map (what we think is reality) isn't the territory:
Our mental maps of the reality are not the world we actualy live in. We often behave upon our maps, instead of directly responding to the actual situation. It is easier to change our maps (thoughts and believes) than to change the world.

Every human experience has a unique structure:
Our thoughts and memories have a pattern to them. When we change that pattern or structure, our experience (reality) will automatically change.

If individual can do something, anyone can learn and DO it:
We can learn an achiever's mental map and copy it as our own. Act 'as if' you can do it.

The mind and the human body are parts of the same system:
Our ideas directly affect our stress level, breathing, feelings and more, and these in turn affect our thoughts. When we learn to change
either one, we have learned to change the other.

Everybody already have all the resources he or she needs:
Our mental pictures, sounds, voices, feelings, smells and taste sensations are the basic building blocks of our resources. We can use them to develop
any thoughts, feelings, or skills we want.

You cannot NOT communicate:
We are always communicating on some level, often in a non-verbal way. Even our thoughts are communications with ourselves and others? The meaning of your communication is the response you get: Others receive what we say and do through their mental map of the world. Noticing how our communication is received allows us to adjust it, so that next time it can be clearer.

Underlying every behaviour is a positive intention:
Even harmful and thoughtless behaviour has a positive purpose. We can determine what that positive intention is and then create more suitable behaviour to attain it.

People always make the best choice available to them:
Each of us have our own unique personal history. Within it, we learned what to do and how to do it, what to want, what to value etc. This is our experience and from it we must make all of our choices. Naturally this is until we add new and better experiences.

If what you're doing isn't working, do anything else:
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten. So if you want something new, do something new, especially as there are infinite number of alternatives.
